Before attending for your appointment there are certain things you can avoid doing to help your treatment go as smoothly as possible.
1. Stop your multivitamins for a few days before your treatment!
If they contain: Fish oils, Omega-3, Vitamin E, Ginseng or Ginko bilboa as they can all increase the risk of bruising. We generally advise to restart around 3 days after your treatment.
2. As long as it’s not a prescription do not take anything that affects blood clotting!
Such as aspirin, or ibuprofen. Many over the counter painkillers contain these, so check the label. These medicines increase the risk of bleeding during your treatment, and developing bruising afterwards. [Never stop your prescription medications before consulting with your own GP.]
3. Minimise alcohol the day before your appointment!
Alcohol causes vasodilation, which means your blood vessels near the skin increase in size and amount of blood volume. This in turn increases the risk of bleeding and developing bruises. We advise to avoid alcohol after your appointment, ideally for at least 24 hours.
Top Tip: Arnicare cream or tablets used on the day of and for 3 days post treatment can help to reduce bruising.
